Several Power System Field NFSC Projects Conducted by Department of Electrical Engineering Received Excellence Project Award

During February 19th -21th, 2017, the annual National Natural Science Foundation of China Project Seminar in the field of electrical engineering and power system was held in Changsha, Hunan. The seminar was organized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in the field of electrical engineering, and was hosted by the Changsha University of Science and Technology. More than 200 experts and scholars in the field of power system participated in the academic seminar.

There were 219 projects in total for discussion, including 115 concluding projects and 104 projects in research. The concluding projects and the research projects were divided into six groups, namely: power system protection, power system analysis, power system control, micro-network and distribution technology, wind power-related technology and new energy, etc.

There were five teachers from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, participating in the concluding project seminar. Among the concluding projects, Xie Xiaorong was responsible of National Science Foundation for Outstanding Young Scholar project (not included in the evaluation). Guo Qinglai and Chen Ying were responsible for the surface projects. Zhang Shuqing and Zhang Ning are responsible for the National Science Foundation for Young Scholar projects. In addition, Wu Wenchuan, Wang Bin, Guo Qinglai and Hu Zechun participated in the seminar of projects in research.

In accordance with practice, the group members voted for outstanding concluding project in each group. After the review of each group, 17 out of 66 surface projects and regional science fund projects were rated outstanding.        3 out of 44 National Science Foundation for Young Scholar projects were rated outstanding. As for the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, the concluding projects responsible by Guo Qinglai, Chen Ying and Zhang Ning were rated outstanding.

On the closing ceremony of the seminar, Guan Yonggang, the mobile director of the department of electrical engineering in National Natural Science Foundation, made a concluding statement on the fruitful results of this seminar. At the same time, he introduced this year's Natural Science Fund project application profile, and natural science Funds' focus of work for the department of electrical engineering during the thirteenth five period.
